punk rock dub

man i love it when you find out about a band listen to them and just love them. well i've been lucky enough to not only find one but two bands BAD BRAINS and SKINDRED the later has a link from this here blog. a mix of regge and heavy rock sort of one reggee three pumping tunes type mix from the bad brains and more a complete fussion in the songs of dub regge hard rock from skin dred. them is very very good mon. i'm having a ska punk dub period and skindred are fitting in just great. check out the link where there are some songs to listen to.

the vans needs to be on the road more, can't wait for the better weather , i'm going to try and get away as much as possible. i love the van and now with the video ipod the in van entertainment is going to be sweet. play movies on a large lcd tv and play a juke box of tunes throught the stereo ,( a new sterao of average standard needs to be installed into the van. )will put some of the adventures online as they happen.

man i've also got a vw beetle that i need to start getting to work on but might save that for the new house we want to get ,try to find the perfect place can sometimes be nothing short of a pain in the fucking arse. we have been out bidded recently on a nice place , but it was not to be and i'm not bitter.

just had the orange of the knot work done on saterday and thats it done for now , want to get the inside of the arm done too so as to complete the band around the arm.any way that will be phase two . phase one is done for now.

my tattoo

Man oh man when i say i want some thing i mean it , "I want a tattoo" so i get one and not some pissing wee thing you squint at to see but a good sized one.I sent a quite alot of time thinking about what it was that i wanted , I love the japanese style tatoos espesially Koi fish orange and blues but felt they did not hold a great deal of meaning for me so wanted to mix it up.
I wanted the following elements japanese style (wind bars and clouds) some African symbols (West African Wisdom: Adinkra Symbols & Meanings) because I was born in Africa and had many good times there in my early years and also there had to be a Celtic hound to represent me being scottish and I love my hound " FloJo MoJo".
First I needed to find an Artist who could and would want to pull all these elements together, Thats when I came across the profile of Jason Corbett aka ZigZag working out of tribe 3 in Edinburgh's Cockburn street he liked his Japanese tattoo .I decided to visit him and have a chat. On that first meeting I could tell he was the dude for the job loving everthing I wanted to pull together he did a quick sketch and was spot on just about . So off I went saying I'd be back in a few weeks to arrange a proper consultation.
After a few weeks I was back and we went over the various elements I brought some A4 sheets of a mix of the influencing images , colours , symbols , african masks, pics of flo , celtic hounds and some japanese tattoos, Jason had a look and put this mish mash of images in to a format that would work as a tattoo. sketch done idea was fast developing we both had a good idea for what was going on. great "i'll be back for the first sitting".
This first sitting was a test sitting to see how much pain I could take so it had to be some thing that would work on its own if i didn't want any more but of course had to fit in with the bigger picture. A borneo rosette with an African symbol in the centre , two corcodiles sharing a stomach Siamese crocodiles symbols of democracy and unity. Well as you can see i went back for more .
